Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Another year is drawing to a close and as is the custom, it’s being sent packing by a barrage of mince pies and sprouts.

We’re planning to take a few days away from the keyboard to recharge; to recover from the lurgy; to contemplate shifting the mince-pie & shortbread-related weight and to think of article ideas for the new year.

Reasons to ride

Christmas is a strange time. It can be a lot of fun, but it can also be a very lonely or stressful time depending on your own situation.

However, one thing that is does present to many of us is time. There should hopefully be plenty of opportunities to get out on the bike –although we’d suggest after Storm Barbara has passed…

If you do get out, Strava has its Festive 500 challenge running again. Do you think you could ride 500km between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve? Why not join our Strava Club and use the discussion board to link up with others in the area for a spin?

If you don’t fancy that, Plan2Ride is open until 2pm on Christmas Eve and then open again on the 28th from 9am. Seawall Tea Rooms is open until 1pm Christmas Eve and open again boxing day until 1pm. Cafe Velo closed on the 22nd and is open again on 27th. However, there are plenty of other places to ride to whilst the roads are free of commuter traffic.

Seasons Greetings

Whatever the festive period has in store for you this year, we hope that it is a good one for you.

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on our articles through 2016 and for providing us with the inspiration to write even more of them.

See you in 2017!
