All, just a quick message to wish you all a Merry Christmas and that 2020 is a great one for you.
I don’t want to jinx it, but some motivation has returned here and I’m looking forward to getting some more riding and writing in over the coming year.
We’ve been a bit quiet on the deals front lately, but it would be a missed opportunity to not share some of the discounts our partners are offering over the break.

The Youtube Channel
I’ve been quite enjoying making videos. I’m not that great at it yet, but I think that is what attracts me to it –there’s a lot of learning to be done.
I recently took a muddy & gravelly ride during my lunch break. Early December, sunny and not all that cold. The highlight of the ride was a stretch of fire road leading from the top of Heol-y-Fforest to Taffs Well.
It was so nice I decided to publish a long cut of just that section:
Eventually it spits you out onto the Penrhos Cutting, which you could then follow up to continue to the Taff Trail north. If you are looking for somewhere traffic-free, add this one to your shortlist. You can grab the route for the fire road here.
It’s ideal for a cross bike or mountain bike –it’s deceptively lumpy and would be a rather jarring ride on a road bike, but could be done in a pinch…
Best wishes, all!
