Volunteers Wanted! Become a Ride Leader in Wales with British Cycling

British Cycling is looking for volunteers in the Cardiff area for its new HSBC Guided Rides programme. If you are reasonably fit and you are comfortable riding in a group, you could take part in their training day on the 1st July 2017. The assessed one-day Ride Leadership Award (Level 1) is completely free and qualifies you to deliver guided bike rides for groups of beginner and intermediate level adults and accompanied children on roads and cycle paths. The Tour of Britain is coming to Cardiff

Good news, everyone! The final stage of the 2017 Tour of Britain will end in Cardiff, bringing top-flight riders to the city centre on 10th September 2017. Cardiff will welcome the OVO Energy Tour of Britain for the first time ever, with the 180-kilometre Stage Eight beginning in Worcester and passing through Monmouthshire and Newport, before finishing on King Edward VII Avenue, alongside Cardiff City Hall. Remembering Mike Hall…

There’s an inescapable sadness pervading Cardiff By Bike HQ today. This morning we learned that ultra-endurance legend Mike Hall had lost his life competing in the Indian Pacific Wheel Race. Mike was known to a few of us here in Cardiff, particularly those who got to ride an Audax or two with him, or even Mike’s own Valleycat events. Whilst we have been a little pre-occupied with Cardiff’s Active Travel Consultation, it’s worth remembering that our neighbouring counties are going through the same process. Get on your bikes and ride! On Saturday 14th January 25 women and girls took to Cardiff on two wheels. The ride set off from The Bike Shed in Pontcanna and four Breeze Champions lead the group on a 11 mile loop to Cardiff Bay; not forgetting the obligatory coffee stop at Coffi Co! The ride marked the beginning of the female cycling community, Wheel Women.
