We love the Bwlch. It's always an interesting challenge, but it also offers achingly beautiful views from the top. Best of all, there are three ways to take it on. One route we've talked about already, coming from Neath and heading towards Treorchy & Pontypridd. We've also talked about the route from Treorchy in our... Continue Reading →
The Velothon Wales 2015 Short Route
Just because there isn't a short route in the 2016 Velothon Wales, it doesn't mean that you can't still ride last year's route in your spare time. The full 140km Velothon route is quite an undertaking, especially when you take the formidable Tumble into account. We do believe that not holding a shorter route this... Continue Reading →
Guest Post: From Radyr to Llantwit Major, via the Bwlch – by Gareth Thomas
I've had my road bike for a little under four years now, but there was a period when it stayed in the garage for at least two years just gathering dust. I rescued it last summer and have been gradually building up my fitness with the goal of completing Velothon Wales in May. As it... Continue Reading →
Hail to the King, Baby! – A Tour Around the Vale
This route was so named because we had a hail storm on the return leg when we tried it, but it seemed like a fun name and an homage to 90s popular culture. However, it's a 73km tour of the Vale of Glamorgan, taking in a healthy supply of cafe's, eateries, pubs and landmarks. The... Continue Reading →
The Hengoed Loop

Up, up and away If you are looking for somewhere to ride that is both beautiful yet incredibly tough, the Bwlch is an excellent place to try. This is a 40 mile ride that'll... Continue Reading →
Cardiff to Merthyr Tydfil on the Taff Trail – The Road Bike Question
One question that seems to come up a lot is whether or not you can get to Merthyr Tydfil from Cardiff on a road bike using the Taff Trail. In our humble opinion you can indeed follow the Taff Trail to Merthyr on a road bike, however you will reach a point where some improvisation is necessary.
A nice route around Cardiff, Newport, Caerphilly & Pontypridd
After taking on a few different routes with our usual Thursday group, we noticed that two of our usual routes could fit together. So, that's just what we've done here. About the route Leaving Cardiff on Albany Road, you head down Newport Road and take a right after TGI Fridays. Head down to the roundabout... Continue Reading →
