Cardiff may be a fairly new city in the grand scheme of things, but thanks to the changing needs of the population over the past two centuries it has become a collection of different ideas, all somehow blended together. Whilst some ideas may have made sense at the time, others should be consigned to history and forgotten.
One thing the snow can give us is a sense of perspective. Just like at Christmas, everything stops. We stay at home; we spend time with our families and we get out and walk places. Our world falls silent.
As 2017 draws to a close it is as good a time as any to take stock on what 2017 gave us, both good and bad, before looking ahead to what 2018 is likely to bring.
